About Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management

Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management (GITAM) is a private deemed university with its flagship campus at Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. Founded in 1980 as Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management by Dr M V V S Murthi, GITAM was granted Deemed-to-be-University status in 2007 under Section 3 of the UGC Act. The university now operates three campuses — Visakhapatnam (main), Hyderabad, and Bengaluru — across a combined 220+ acres.

GITAM has 25+ departments offering 100+ UG, PG and PhD programmes spanning Engineering & Technology (GITAM School of Technology), Management (GITAM School of Business), Sciences (GITAM School of Science), Pharmacy, Architecture, Law, Humanities, Nursing, Paramedical Sciences, and Physiotherapy. The Gitam Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (GIMSR) at Visakhapatnam is the medical college of the GITAM ecosystem.

GITAM admissions are conducted through the GITAM Admission Test (GAT) — a national-level computer-based / online proctored entrance test. GAT 2026 is conducted in multiple phases for B.Tech, B.Pharm, BBA, BCom, integrated programmes and select PG courses. Medical admissions follow NEET UG; PG management uses GAT-PGTA or CAT/MAT. PhD admissions go through the GITAM PhD entrance plus interview.

Eligibility

B.Tech: Class 10+2 from a recognised board with PCM at 60%+ aggregate (relaxation for reserved categories) and a valid GAT 2026 score. UG (BBA, BCom, BA, integrated): 10+2 with at least 50%. MBBS (GIMSR): NEET UG qualified with the cut-off rank. PG: Bachelor's in the relevant discipline with at least 50% (45% for SC/ST/PwBD); GAT-PGTA / CAT / GATE score where applicable. PhD: Master's with 55%+ and qualifying UGC-NET / GATE / GITAM PhD entrance plus interview.

Reservations

As a private deemed university, GITAM follows its own internal admission policy. SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD candidates receive eligibility relaxations and Government of India Post-Matric scholarships through the National Scholarship Portal. NRI/PIO/OCI sponsorship category and foreign nationals are accommodated per the GITAM prospectus.
