About Jamia Millia Islamia University
Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) is a Central University located at Maulana Mohammed Ali Jauhar Marg, Jamia Nagar in New Delhi, originally founded in 1920 at Aligarh during the Non-Cooperation Movement and shifted to Delhi in 1925. JMI was conferred Central University status by the Jamia Millia Islamia Act, 1988 of the Indian Parliament. The university is a minority institution under Section 2(g) of the National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions Act, 2004.
JMI offers UG, PG, M.Phil, Ph.D, Diploma and integrated programmes through 9 faculties — Engineering & Technology, Architecture & Ekistics, Education, Humanities & Languages, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, Law, Fine Arts, Dentistry — and the AJK Mass Communication Research Centre. UG admission for 2026-27 follows a multi-track process: a defined set of UG programmes admit via CUET UG (NTA), while the remaining UG / PG programmes use the JMI Entrance Examination (JMIEE) conducted by the university. B.Tech admission accepts JEE Main; B.Arch accepts NATA; BDS / BPT use NEET; integrated B.Ed (ITEP) uses NCET.
For 2026-27, JMI application opened on 20 February 2026 with a 10 April 2026 deadline (CUET-based programmes have a separate deadline 10 days post-CUET result). JMIEE 2026 is being conducted offline from 26 April to 5 June 2026 across allotted centres. The official admission portal is at admission.jmi.ac.in.
