About Kurukshetra University

Kurukshetra University (KU) is a state university located at Thanesar, Kurukshetra in Haryana, established in 1956 by the Punjab Legislative Assembly and inherited by Haryana upon state formation in 1966. KU is one of the oldest universities in north India and is the principal affiliating university for colleges across the Kurukshetra, Karnal, Kaithal, Panipat and Yamunanagar districts. NAAC A+ accredited.

KU offers UG, PG, M.Phil and Ph.D programmes through 8 faculties and 47 departments across arts, sciences, commerce, management, law, education, engineering and Indic studies. UG admission for 2026-27 is largely through CUET UG (NTA) for select programmes plus merit-based registration; B.Tech admission uses JEE Main + HSTES counselling; PG admission uses CUET PG or KU PG Entrance.
