About Himachal Pradesh University

Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) is a state university located at Summer Hill, Shimla in Himachal Pradesh, established in 1970 by the HPU Act, 1970 of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly. HPU is the oldest and largest university in HP and is the principal affiliating university for colleges across the state. NAAC A-grade accredited.

HPU offers UG, PG, M.Phil and Ph.D programmes through 5 faculties and 50 departments across arts, sciences, commerce, management, law, education and computer applications. UG admission for 2026-27 is largely through CUET UG (NTA) for select programmes plus merit-based registration; PG admission via HPU PG Entrance or CUET PG; LLB via CLAT or HPU Law Entrance.
