About National University of Study & Research in Law

National University of Study & Research in Law (NUSRL) is a National Law University located at Polytechnic Campus, Booty More, Ranchi in Jharkhand, established by the NUSRL Act, 2010 of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly. NUSRL is one of India's National Law Universities and is dedicated to legal education, research and policy.

NUSRL offers a 5-year integrated B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), one-year LL.M. and Ph.D programmes in law. Admission to BA LLB and LLM is through the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT UG / CLAT PG) conducted by the Consortium of NLUs.

CLAT 2026 was conducted on 7 December 2025. NUSRL portal is at nusrlranchi.ac.in.

Eligibility

BA LLB (Hons): 10+2 with 45% aggregate (40% SC/ST). LLM: LLB + 50% (45% SC/ST). Selection through CLAT score and counselling.

   CLAT 2026 was held on 7 December 2025.

   NLU centralised counselling
   Fill NUSRL as a preference in centralised CLAT counselling.

   Final admission
   Allotted candidates pay the NUSRL admission fee at the Booty More campus, Ranchi.

Scholarships

Scholarships are available for eligible candidates at this university.

NUSRL merit scholarships, Jharkhand State scholarships, NLU Aspirant scheme, SC/ST/OBC/EWS scholarships through NSP and need-based aid.

Reservations

Jharkhand state reservation: SC 10%, ST 26%, OBC (BC-I) 8%, OBC (BC-II) 6%, EWS 10%; PwBD 4% horizontal. Jharkhand domicile reservation as per Consortium norms.
