About Ranchi University

Ranchi University (RU) is a state university located at Morabadi, Ranchi in Jharkhand, established in 1960 by the Bihar Legislative Assembly (pre-Jharkhand statehood) and inherited by Jharkhand upon state formation in 2000. RU is the oldest and largest university in Jharkhand and is the principal affiliating university for colleges across the Ranchi, Khunti and Lohardaga districts. NAAC B+ accredited.

RU offers UG, PG, M.Phil and Ph.D programmes through 7 faculties and 35+ departments. UG admission for 2026-27 is largely through CUET UG (NTA) for select programmes plus merit-based registration; B.Tech via JEE Main + JCECEB; PG via RU PG Entrance or CUET PG.
