About Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University
Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University (SGBAU), established in 1983 in Amravati and renamed in 1994 in honour of Sant Gadge Baba — the 20th-century Marathi saint, social reformer and pioneer of rural sanitation and education — is a state university serving the Western Vidarbha region of Maharashtra. The university covers Amravati, Akola, Yavatmal, Washim and Buldhana districts.
SGBAU has 38 teaching departments organised into multiple faculties — Arts & Humanities, Social Sciences, Sciences, Commerce, Education, Law, Engineering & Technology and Home Sciences. It affiliates 350+ UG and PG colleges across the Vidarbha region. NAAC A+ accredited.
UG admissions through MHT-CET for professional courses; merit on Plus Two for general UG. PG admissions through SGBAU PG entrance or CUET PG. PhD through SGBAU PET.
