About Somaiya Vidyavihar University
Somaiya Vidyavihar University (SVU), established in 2019 by an Act of the Maharashtra state legislature, is a private state university located at Vidyavihar, Mumbai. The university is part of the Somaiya Vidyavihar Education Trust (founded in 1959 by Padmabhushan K.J. Somaiya — the industrialist and philanthropist) and brings together 36 existing Somaiya institutes into a unified university structure.
Somaiya Vidyavihar University has 12 schools — Somaiya Institute of Management (SIMSR), KJ Somaiya College of Engineering (KJSCE), Somaiya Institute of Applied Sciences, Somaiya School of Liberal Arts, Somaiya School of Education, KJ Somaiya College of Arts & Commerce, Somaiya Centre for Buddhist Studies, Somaiya School of Sports, and more. NAAC A grade accredited; KJ Somaiya is among Mumbai's top private engineering and management institutions.
Admissions through Somaiya-conducted entrance tests (Somaiya Vidyavihar CET — SVU CET) and merit on Plus Two/UG marks. JEE Main, GATE, CAT, CUET UG/PG accepted depending on programme. SIMSR uses Somaiya MBA CET. PhD through SVU PhD entrance.
