About Gondwana University
Gondwana University, established in 2011 by an Act of the Maharashtra state legislature, is a state university serving the tribal-majority Gadchiroli-Chandrapur region of Vidarbha. Located at Gadchiroli district headquarters, the university is named after the Gond tribal civilisation that historically ruled this region. Gondwana University serves Gadchiroli, Chandrapur and parts of Bhandara and Gondia districts — areas with significant tribal populations.
Gondwana University has 15 teaching departments organised into faculties of Arts, Social Sciences, Sciences, Commerce, Education, Law and Engineering & Technology. It affiliates 100+ UG and PG colleges across the tribal Vidarbha region. The Centre for Tribal Studies and the Department of Gondi Language and Culture are unique research-focus units. NAAC B grade accredited.
UG admissions through MHT-CET for professional courses; merit on Plus Two for general UG. PG admissions through Gondwana University PG entrance or CUET PG. PhD through Gondwana PET. Tribal student outreach a high priority.
