About Manipur University of Culture

Manipur University of Culture (MUC), established in 2015 by an Act of the Manipur state legislature, is a unique state university dedicated to the study, preservation and propagation of Manipur's rich cultural heritage. Located at Palace Compound, Imphal, MUC is the first university in India entirely focused on a single state's cultural heritage (covering Manipuri language, classical dance forms like Manipuri Raas, indigenous music, folk traditions, martial arts like Thang-Ta, traditional crafts and tribal cultures of Manipur).

MUC offers UG, PG and PhD programmes in Manipuri Language, Manipuri Literature, Manipuri Dance (Raas Leela, Lai Haraoba), Manipuri Music (Pung, Pena), Performing Arts (Thang-Ta martial arts, Sarit Sarak), Visual Arts, Cultural Studies, Linguistics, Folklore, Ethnomusicology and Manipuri Traditional Crafts. The university has strong linkages with the Sangeet Natak Akademi and Jawaharlal Nehru Manipuri Dance Academy.

Admissions through MUC-conducted aptitude test (performance audition for dance/music/martial arts) + interview + qualifying degree. CUET UG/PG accepted for select theoretical programmes. PhD through MUC PhD entrance + research interview.

MUC Aptitude Test (Audition)
Conducted by Manipur University of Culture

Aptitude test (audition/performance test) is mandatory for all UG and PG admissions in classical Manipuri dance (Raas Leela), music, martial arts (Thang-Ta) and visual arts. CUET UG/PG accepted for select theoretical programmes (Cultural Studies, Linguistics, Folklore). PhD through MUC entrance + interview.

Eligibility

UG: Plus Two pass + aptitude test/audition. PG: bachelor in relevant cultural form + aptitude test. PhD: PG 55% + entrance + research interview.
