About Madhusudan Law University
Madhusudan Law University (MLU), established in 2021 by an Act of the Odisha state legislature, is a state law university located at Cuttack — the historic legal capital of Odisha with the Orissa High Court. The university is named after Pandit Madhusudan Das — the 19th-century freedom fighter, lawyer and 'Utkala Gourav' (Pride of Odisha), known as the architect of separate Odisha state and a pioneer of modern Odia identity. MLU complements NLU Odisha by focusing on conventional law education and offers UG/PG/PhD law programmes for Odisha state students.
Madhusudan Law University has departments of Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, Family Law, Commercial Law, International Law, Environmental Law, Intellectual Property Rights and Legal Theory. Offers LLB (3-year), BA LLB (5-year), LL.M. and PhD programmes. Recognised by Bar Council of India (BCI). The university provides accessible legal education with lower fees compared to NLUO.
LLB admissions through MLU Entrance Test (state quota); BA LLB through MLU Entrance + Plus Two merit. LL.M. through MLU PG entrance. PhD through MLU PhD entrance. CUET UG/PG accepted for select programmes.
