About Vardhman Mahaveer Open University
Vardhaman Mahaveer Open University (VMOU), established in 1987 by an Act of the Rajasthan state legislature, is the state open university of Rajasthan. Headquartered at Kota, VMOU is named after Lord Vardhaman Mahaveer — the 24th Tirthankara of Jainism. VMOU provides Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and online education to learners across Rajasthan. Recognised by UGC-DEB (Distance Education Bureau).
VMOU offers UG (BA, BCom, BBA, BCA, BSc), PG (MA, MCom, MSc, MBA, MCA, MSW, MLib), MPhil, PhD, Certificate and Diploma programmes through ODL and online modes. The university has regional centres across the 33 districts of Rajasthan with 1500+ study centres. Special programmes for women, rural and tribal learners. UGC-DEB recognised for ODL and online programmes.
Admissions are rolling — two intakes annually (January and July cycles). UG admissions on Plus Two pass basis; PG on bachelor degree basis. No entrance for most programmes; merit-based with relaxation for SC/ST/PwBD.
