About The English and Foreign Languages University
English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU), established in 1973 as Central Institute of English and Foreign Languages (CIEFL) and elevated to Central University status in 2007 by the EFLU Act 2007, is a Central University dedicated exclusively to language education and research. Headquartered at Tarnaka, Hyderabad, EFLU is the only Central University in India focused solely on languages, with strong programmes in English, foreign languages and linguistic studies.
EFLU has 7 schools — School of English Language Education (SELE), School of Literary Studies (SLS), School of Distance Education (SDE), School of Translation Studies & Training (STST), School of Interdisciplinary Studies (SIS), School of Languages, Linguistics & Indology (SLLI), and School of Foreign Languages (SFL — French, German, Russian, Arabic, Spanish, Italian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Turkish, etc.). Regional Campuses at Lucknow and Shillong. NAAC accredited.
UG admissions through CUET UG, PG through CUET PG, and PhD through CUET PhD or EFLU PhD entrance. Some programmes (specialized language courses) admit through EFLU-conducted entrance.
