About Sardar Bhagwan Singh University
Sardar Bhagwan Singh University (SBSU), Dehradun was established in 2018 by Sardar Bhagwan Singh Educational and Charitable Trust under the Uttarakhand State Legislature Act. It evolved from Sardar Bhagwan Singh Post Graduate Institute of Biomedical Sciences & Research (SBSPGI), founded in 1996, which had built a strong reputation in biomedical and pharmaceutical sciences. The university is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956 and is approved by PCI, INC, AICTE and NCTE for its respective professional programmes. The campus is located at Balawala, Dehradun, spread across 70 acres.
SBSU offers programmes through six schools — Pharmaceutical Sciences (its flagship), Biomedical Sciences, Nursing, Allied Health Sciences, Engineering & Computing, and Management & Liberal Arts. Major programmes include BPharm/MPharm/D.Pharm/Pharm.D, BSc/MSc Biotechnology/Microbiology/Biomedical Sciences, BSc/MSc Nursing/GNM, BPT/MPT, BSc MLT/Radiology/OT, BTech (CSE/IT/ECE/EE/Mechanical/Civil), BCA/MCA, BBA/MBA, BA/MA and PhD. Admissions accept UKSEE for pharmacy, JEE Main for engineering, GPAT for MPharm, NEET PG for select medical, and qualifying merit / SBSU-EE for other programmes.
SBSU is NAAC accredited and is one of the most established pharmaceutical sciences universities in Uttarakhand, with research output and patent filings in herbal pharmaceuticals, drug delivery and biomedical sciences. Recruiters include Cipla, Sun Pharma, Mankind, Lupin, Glenmark, Wockhardt, Apollo Hospitals, Max Healthcare, Wipro, TCS and Cognizant. The campus offers separate hostels for boys and girls, modern pharmaceutical research labs, central library with 30,000+ titles, animal house for research, and the SBSU Centre for Biomedical Research.
