About Swami Rama Himalayan University
Swami Rama Himalayan University (SRHU), Dehradun was established in 2013 by Himalayan Institute Hospital Trust (HIHT) under the Uttarakhand State Legislature Act. The university is named after Yogi-philosopher Swami Rama, founder of the Himalayan Institute of Yoga Science and Philosophy. SRHU is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956 and is approved by NMC, INC, DCI, PCI, AICTE and NCTE for its respective professional programmes. The university campus is located at Jolly Grant, Doiwala, in close proximity to Dehradun and adjacent to the 1,000-bedded Himalayan Hospital.
SRHU operates through five faculties — Medical Sciences, Nursing, Biotech & Microbiology, Engineering, and Management. Flagship offerings include MBBS, BDS, BSc/MSc Nursing, MD/MS, GNM, BPT/MPT, MPH, Diploma & Allied Health programmes, BTech (CSE/IT/Civil/Mechanical/ECE/EE), MBA, BSc/MSc Biotechnology/Microbiology, BBA, BCA and PhD. Admissions for MBBS/BDS go through NEET UG; PG medical via NEET PG; nursing via the university entrance test; engineering via JEE Main / SRHUEE; MBA via CAT/MAT/CMAT/SRHU-MAT.
SRHU is NAAC accredited and ranked among India's top private medical universities. The Himalayan Hospital attached to the university provides clinical training across 30+ specialties and serves as a major tertiary care centre for the Garhwal region. The university has academic partnerships with the University of Pittsburgh, Penn State and the Himalayan Institute USA. The campus offers separate hostels, dedicated yoga and meditation centres, modern operation theatres, and a Centre for Spiritual & Holistic Health.
